El Portal, the gastronomic project launched by a businessman Carlos Bosch seven years ago has become one of the most bustling and popular spots in Alicante. Bosch has discovered in the combination of non-stop quality food and service, along with an exciting range of wines, the secret to sustaining daily and provide more than 300 amenities every day. Because, aside from gastronomy, El Portal is a gathering place and a great spot for a drink after midnight, while being enthralled by the music of the best DJs.
The owner is a lover of wine and, consequently, has a unique wine cellar located on the premises. It is home to an extensive assortment of Jerez as well as champagne bottles. He is also an advocate for the Krug champagne brand, which is to have an exclusive table set in one of the most elegant parts of the restaurant, which can seat the minimum of four people and a maximum of eight. You can sample a menu with the signature of the chef and co-owner Sergio Sierra and accompanied by this special French champagne.
The idea behind La Table Krug serves to live a gastronomic experience, where food goes together with Krug Cuvee however, guests are able, if they would like, to sample different vintages and jewels of the maison: Cuvee, Rose, Vintage , Collection, Clos du Mesnil and Clos d’Ambonnay. They all come with a 20% discount on the price marked in their El Portal menu.
Its tasting menu (190 euros, including VAT along with a bottle champagne for every two people) starts with a menu of dishes that you can share, like Maldonado Acorn-fed Iberian ham, knife-cut cecina from Leon and accompanied by slice of bread glasses, to the which can be added oil and tomato from the garden, or some half-cured mullet roe.
The menu of dishes starts with a tin of Iranian beluga caviar laid on an island of cream. It continues with egg yolk, bacon, potato and black truffle. This is the precursor to an amazing red prawn that has been grilled from Denia.
As main courses: bluefin tuna with nettles, and an outstanding squab which Sergio Sierra prepares just right in three cooking periods. Dessert, red fruits with mascarpone ice-cream.
